Dresden Thoughts

An aspect of Dresden that fascinated me was the lack of tourists. I mean I saw some around but nothing as close as the amount I saws in Berlin. Also, because of fewer tourists there were less souvenir shops; I only saw two. Another thing I liked about Dresden and not many tourists is once we passed the bridge over the Elbe river it was very quiet and just mostly locals around. It was so nice.

My favorite academic activity was entering the St. Nicholas’s Church. I absolutely loved the inside of this church. I thought it was so beautiful. I have an obsession with European churches and cathedrals. Also, just like most girls I think about my future wedding a lot and when I walked into this church that is what came to mind right away! I loved it! I also thought it was interesting how after the bombing they wanted to restore it as close to exact as they could so all over the building there is some areas with dark brick instead of the normal color. Those spots contain the original brick in the close to original spot. I thought that was so cool; it took 45 years to complete and they did an amazing job!

My favorite extra-curricular activity would be when Katie, Michaela and I went to the Hangover 3 in theaters. We were so fascinated by the movie theaters in Europe since they served wine and beer. We each got some wine and chocolates and enjoyed the movie. It was a fun night and I recommend for future students to go to one too!

A place I would recommend eating in Dresden would be the main gelato stand right outside the train station! They had quite a bit of flavors! It was only one euro and it was extremely delicious (but when isn’t gelato delicious?).
